@lindakienle531 What's properly dressed, is what is expected by the culture to which you belong, so for example, if you go to a Muslim wedding guests might wear trousers underneath a tunic (salwar kameez) or an Indian wedding a sari, or an African wedding a tight fitting bodice and wrap round skirt with a headdress tied on their heads; at a Naturist wedding no clothes at all, other than a towel to sit on, so it's a case of each to their own really.

@ravenquilts5931 Yes, that would be nice, in an ideal world, and I did recently shoot another Traveller wedding where the groom had insisted that his friends dress smartly for his wedding, so even on a boiling hot day, they were all wearing three-piece suits, but they didn't half suffer! Sometimes, comfort is more conducive to happy expressions and just as special memories. Many Traveller men use their work vans as their mode of transport, so work clothes are often more suitable, particularly if they've come straight from work. Also not everyone can afford formal attire, that may only get used once or twice in their adult lifetimes, during which their figures may also have expanded! They dont have much storage storage space inside their homes and although I know they could hire the suits, it's still extra money for something that several men don't really think of as a priority. The Traveller men also tend to sit together afterwards in one space - usually near a bar - while the ladies sit in the main one that might be beautifully decorated. They just want to enjoy their day their way. I hope that helps?

@happydays7143 Yes, only the wedding party tend to wear suits. The rest usually come straight from work, and they don't all have the same dress code as other cultural groups .Weddings are more enjoyed by their women, anyway.

Yes, it truly was a well-decorated and planned wedding. The bride looked like a storybook princess, didn't she! She had the tiniest waist I have ever seen on an adult female too!

@Paula-u5h Oh how sad, Paula. It breaks my heart to hear how you've missed out on the kind of dream wedding you would have wanted! However, there's nothing wrong with secondhand, and many savvy brides can pick up a bargain wedding dress that way. After all, a dress doesn't wear out after only one use, does it! I'm sorry you've ended up in a wheelchair too! My mum also was in a wheelchair for the last 10 years of her life, so I know how easy it is to put on weight when unable to walk about. I hope watching these videos doesn't make you too sad, though, and that you can still find many moments of happiness, maybe with family and friends? Life isn't about things, really, is it, but the people you meet in life who help to create your special memories that are unique to you....

Thanks for your suggestions, Lisa. However, there weren't exactly many "frills" at this wedding really. They only invited a few close friends to a public carvery afterwards, so no DJ, dancing or even wedding cake! I think most brides like to have their hair and makeup done for their wedding day, and a wedding dress is also pretty much a given standard. The only extra "frill" was the flower decorations in the church, but they did create a nice background for the wedding photos, so you can hardly begrudge them that, Lisa, can you?

@2bluehorizons4 Wow! That's quite a tirade! I do agree with you in many respects, but I will continue to support Travellers as they are who they are. They learn from their own people as that influence is more powerful than observed behaviour from second hanx source , so I don't blame them for being unruly. Children tend to speak and act like their parents, rather than what they see on TV.

Do you mean the wedding guests inside the church or the bride and groom during the hour plus long wedding service?

Hi Laura. You may be right, but not all couples are demonstratively lovey-dovey during their wedding ceremony. This couple most likely haven't had a chance to develop their relationship yet, but it should come, with time shared, something they have not had till now.

@liamgildea8016 Agreed, it's wedding. The marriage comes later when they bond together over the years. Everyone has their own style, though, so we all do things differently. It's informative for you to see how some people are on their wedding day, so I hope you found it interesting, at least.

@CarlaMWard- I understand your reaction, but then hair and makeup is very subjective; everyone has their own customs and styles that they like. Fashions, too, can go round several times, aa we borrow from other eras. I never wear any makeup at all myself, even on my wedding day, but I resoect othef people's choices, so the final analysis, this is how she likes it and so do many others, particularly Travellers and Muslims. You don't have to like it, yourself of course, though.

Aw, that's so tenderly and honestly expressed, I can't argue with your genuinely felt sentiments. The bride's. mother will be coming with the bride soon, to choose their photos for the album, so at least I can say that they are so far still together. I've also left many replies to others' comments about her chosen style of makeup, so have a read of those to see if you still feel the same
